FBC Pride

A Welcoming and Affirming Church

FBC Pride

First Baptist Church is a welcoming and affirming church, and a safe space for all. We are an inclusive, inquisitive Baptist church, with a diverse community of people seeking to follow the example of Jesus Christ. We believe that women are called to preach, that LGBTQ+ Christians are essential leaders, and that our LGBTQ+ siblings and our straight, cisgender siblings learn from one another about God, faith, and social justice. It means we seek to listen to the experiences of those who’ve been excluded, to amplify the voices of those who’ve been unheard, and to advocate alongside the lives of those who’ve been oppressed in our society. We proclaim a gospel of good news for every person, a trust and hope that God is for us, with us, and within us. We believe that our faith is about more than worship on a Sunday morning; it requires us to become involved in the work of justice and peace-making. 2023 marks the First Baptist Church of Worcester’s 30th Anniversary of welcoming and affirming the LGBTQIA+ community, celebrating queer love and God’s love for their queer children!

FBC “Queers of Faith” Brunch Monthly Meet-Up: This group is for LGBTQIA+ members and visitors of FBC, and meets monthly to enjoy meaningful connection over the best meal of the week–brunch! Contact info@fbc-worc.org to learn more.

FBC and Pride Worcester: FBC Worcester is a proud supporter and participant of the Annual Pride Worcester Festival! Join us each September as we celebrate at Worcester’s annual Pride Festival at Worcester Common! As religious institutions have historically so often been a significant source of harm toward the queer community, commitment toward the counter-narrative is vital, and FBC is excited to continue visibly fostering the intersectional identity of faith and queerness. 2023 Pride Service & Drag Storytime on Sunday, September 10th:  FBC commemorated our 30th Anniversary of welcoming and affirming the LGBTQIA+ community, celebrating queer love and God’s love for their queer children with a special guest, nationally-acclaimed Drag Queen, “Flamy Grant,” as part of the service. After the service as Drag performers from “Love Your Labels” read affirming, inclusive stories to show our kids they are valid and incredible just as they are, bringing people together and strengthening networks of queer and ally families looking for safe spaces.
